Music & Competitive Gaming
In this page, let's take a break from the part of my world that involves programming, research, machine learning, and technical jargons and let's explore the musician and competitive gamer side of mine.

Art the Musician
Along with programming, research, and being an educator, I am also a musician on the side! As a classically trained pianist, I have experienced performing in front of a live audience in concert halls and in theaters. Beethoven's sonatas, Chopin's etudes and ballades, along with Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies are some pieces that I love performing in public. I am also quite a fan of Jarrod Radnich's virtuosic renditions!
Check out this small gallery consisting of images taken during performances / rehearsals leading up to a performance.
During my time of study under Prof. Perla Z. Suaco, a music professor from the University of the Philippines and University of Sto. Tomas conservatory of music, I learned some music theory that enabled me to compose some music of my own. This page provides a listing of some some links to my previous performances and a collection of my favorite personal compositions along with an explanation behind some of them.

Personal Compositions
Here are some of my own personal compositions written for piano solo. You may find more of my compositions in my SoundCloud.
Bells of the Cathedral
This was one of my very first compositions. In this piece, it tells the magical story of a traveler who seeks shelter in a cathedral during a stormy weather, and he is greeted by the magical singing of bells, the chanting of monks within an assuring and benedictive atmosphere.
"UP Naming Mahal" Virtuosic Piano Solo Version"
This is a virtuosic piano solo version of University of the Philippines' alma mater hymn entitled "UP Naming Mahal" that was heavily based on Jarrod Radnich's arrangement of "The First Noel" amongst his virtuosic arrangements.
Dreams and Melodies of Warmth "April"
From my "Dreams and Melodies of Warmth" collection comes "April", which is the 3rd in the series and one of my favorites. It's in E Major and was actually composed in the middle of the night when I woke up with a very bad tension headache.
R2ROKID9 the Competitive Gamer
Aside from being a musician, I am quite a gamer myself! I specialize on rhythm games and I've gotten to the point where I would compete in local and international tournaments. I have the IGN (In Game Name) "R2ROKID9" for majority of the games I play.
The games I would normally compete in are Dance Dance Revolution and Jubeat. I was also the Philippine representative for Jubeat in the Bemani e-sports Championship held in 2019 and recently a 9th Konami Arcade Championship (KAC) finalist for Jubeat. I was the first KAC finalist from the Philippines since the KAC started being held annually.
Below is a compilation of photos showing some scores I've gotten and moments where I'd compete / cast in tournaments.
